Acne Solutions

It may be hard finding a solution to help your acne, but it is possible.  Here are a few suggestions:

Everyone wants to have a beautiful exterior these days.  Therefore, you can understand why people are looking for ways to enhance their physical beauty.  There are a variety of skin problems that create physical flaws.  It is understandable that people want to get rid of these skin disorders as fast as possible.

Acne is a very common skin problem since bacteria is present on each person's skin.  Today there are many solutions to solving these irregularities and infections.  In order to get a product that works, you must first try to trace the cause of the flare ups for you in particular.  Then you must try to understand what you can do about it.

Mentally review your lifestyle for the past few months or even years.  You must get at least 8 hours of sleep, eat 3 hearty meals each day and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day.  If you are not doing these things, this may be your problem.  Relax and try to live a healthier lifestyle.  If this does not improve your acne, then it is time to find a treatment for it.

Prescription therapy and home remedies aim to kill bacteria, unclog pores and minimize oil.  Make sure you know about how each of these processes work:

1. Opening or unclogging pores – The easiest way to solve your acne problem is by cleansing the skin and using proper skin care techniques.  You may try different methods to do this.  You can unclog your pores by using a mild cleansing liquid or bar and washing one or two times daily.  This helps to minimize possible irritation and inflammation.  Another way to open pores is to use exfoliating cleansers and masques.  Most of these products contain salicylic acid which acts as a peeling agent.  The outer skin layer can be removed which will open your pores.

2. Killing acne-causing bacteria – One of the best methods to cure or reduce the dilemma is to eliminate acne-causing bacteria.  You can do this by using a good antibacterial cleanser especially one that contains benzoyl peroxide.  You can also use topical or external medication to kill the bacteria.  These come in the form or gels, creams and lotions that you apply to the affected area.

3. Reduction of oil – One factor that aggravates acne is excessive oil production.  You will not be able to get rid of it all together, but you can use a gentle astringent or toner to get rid of the oil on your skin's surface.

Products containing glycolic acid are good to get rid of acne because they exfoliate the skin.  You may wish to use facial masques containing sulfur and antibacterial pads that contain benzoyl peroxide which are effective in drawing out oil.

You may also try using water based or oil free cosmetics so that you may conceal the area affected.  Try administering facials or using pore strips to cleanse the pores of your skin.

Other than these, you must get into the habit of developing a good skin regimen.  Today, most dermatologists recommend a skin routine that includes cleansing the skin twice daily using products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.  This should be followed by applying benzoyl peroxide cream or gel.  During the day, you may try using light skin moisturizers or makeup that is oil-free.  Make sure that you use a sulfur based cream at night.

Although blemishes may be upsetting, the medical field is making many strides in order to advance treatment options.  Medical researchers are attempting to develop new drugs to treat acne as well as to replace existing drugs.  This applies, in a large way, to topical antibiotics.  Doctors are finding that acne-causing bacteria are becoming immune to certain antibiotics.  There is also research being conducted on the long-term side effects of medications that are used to treat acne.  With more and more research being done, perhaps doctors and scientists will find more effective ways to combat acne.

Unfortunately, skin care problems are not always cured instantly.  It may take weeks and sometimes months to make this skin disorder disappear.  This depends upon how severe a case you have and the way in which your skin reacts to the acne solution you are using.
